Sacred Reconsecration
The sacred renewal of the divine presence — the Punaprathistha of Lord Ayyappa's Sreekovil performed in 2008 with traditional Tantric rituals.
Sacred Renewal
As per the findings of Devaprashnam held on 24th and 25th April 2008, the Samiti undertook the work of Punarudharanam (sacred renovation and re-consecration) of Lord Ayyappa’s Sreekovil in the temple.
For this sacred purpose, Balaya Prathishta was performed on 25th August 2008. Immediately thereafter, the work of Punarudharanam was commenced under divine guidance.
The most important ritual during temple construction — Shadadhara Prathishta — was performed in the temple by Tantri BrahmaSree Akkirama Kalidasa Bhattathirippad on 16th September 2008.
With the kind cooperation and generous contributions of Ayyappa devotees from across Jaipur and beyond, the sacred work of constructing the new Sreekovil was successfully completed — restoring the temple to its full divine glory.
What is Punaprathistha?
A divine consultation — learned scholars perform a ritual inquiry to determine the state of the temple and prescribe necessary actions for restoring the deity's full presence and power.
A preliminary consecration ritual performed before renovation work begins — temporarily relocating the divine energy so the sacred construction can proceed without disturbance.
The installation of the six foundational elements (Shadadhara) — the most critical structural and spiritual ritual during temple construction, performed by the qualified Tantri.
The final re-consecration — the divine energy is fully restored in the renovated sanctum, renewing the temple's spiritual power for another generation of devotees.
18 Steps Pooja
The 18 Sacred Steps leading to the sanctum are central to the Punaprathistha — each step was ritually consecrated and restored as part of the 2008 renewal.
Every visit is a step closer to the Divine. We welcome you with open arms.
