Onam & Thiruvonam

Onam is the grand harvest festival of Kerala, celebrated with immense joy, devotion, and cultural unity by Malayalees around the world. The festival marks the homecoming of the legendary King Mahabali, whose reign is remembered as a golden age of peace, prosperity, and equality. Families decorate their homes with beautiful floral carpets known as Pookalam, wear traditional attire, and gather together to celebrate the spirit of togetherness and gratitude.

The festival usually spans ten days, beginning with Atham and culminating on the sacred day of Thiruvonam. Each day carries its own significance, with homes and temples becoming vibrant centers of prayer, music, dance, and traditional festivities. Devotees offer prayers seeking blessings for health, happiness, abundance, and harmony in family life. Onam also symbolizes the triumph of devotion, humility, and righteousness.Thiruvonam, the most auspicious day of the festival, is observed with special poojas, temple visits, and the grand Onasadya feast.
